On November 5th and 6th, Dublin’s Croke Park hosted the Interreg NWE Annual Event. With over 400 attendees, the event highlighted the achievements of current projects and promoted upcoming initiatives in the latest call. BUFFER+ was among the projects invited to host a stand, where it showcased its ambitions, and the progress made so far. To highlight the beauty of the peatland, the stand was adorned with bulrush, bog oak, vibrant sphagnum moss, and a stunning poster featuring a photograph by the talented Tina Claffey.

In addition to the stand, representatives of the BUFFER+ consortium, Hetty Mathijssen and Dr. Constanze O’Toole, delivered a presentation. On the first day of the event, a project showcase section featured ongoing or promising projects in thematic breakaway rooms. BUFFER+ presented in the room focused on climate change adaptation and resilience. During the presentation, Hetty highlighted the water retention capabilities of sphagnum moss to a packed audience, which garnered significant attention.

The event itself focused on the future of Interreg and encouraged attendees to engage and provide feedback on their interaction with the programme so far and their vision of its future.

Many thanks to the Interreg NWE team for organising this fabulous event and Croke Park staff for graciously hosting. Looking forward to next year’s event already!
