For 15 years and intensively since 2016, the Dutch Heart Foundation (DHF) has successfully worked on this challenge with a broad variety of partners. The survival rate has increased to 23% in 2016 up to an estimated 45% momentarily. A success that DHF is proud of, highly recognized in the Netherlands, and in 2022 awarded by a Golden Effie, a prestigious price for our distinctive and effective long term (public) communication strategies.
The DHF would like to share with other countries and regions how to learn from our practice, and translate it successfully to their own area.
As Lead Partner for this project, the DHF will contribute their experience and network in building a multi-lateral community based OHCA first responder infrastructure in the pilot regions. We will be responsible for the management of the project, in cooperation with the work package leader and all respective (associated) partners. We will share best practices on community engagement, building a network of citizen first responders and AEDs and improving public awareness of OHCA, and the role a local community can play to improve survival rates.
